Trot Nixon is one of the most decorated athletes to come out of Wilmington. High school Player of the Year in football and baseball, Nixon passed up a scholarship to play quarterback at N.C. State to pursue his dream of playing major league baseball. He won a World Series with the Boston Red Sox in 2004, and spent more than a decade in the big leagues. Now eight years out of baseball, Nixon still spends time on the field, coaching and watching his two sons play the same sports he did.
