Martha "Marti" Peterson was a spy for the CIA, operating in the heart of the Soviet Union. She became the agency’s first female operative in Moscow, and gathered secret information from an agent inside the Soviet government. Marti was “Jane Bond”, until one day she was ambushed and taken to a Russian prison. Pictures from her capture grace spy museums in Moscow and Washington, DC. In this week’s podcast, Marti tells the stories of how she worked undercover to gather some of the most important intelligence of the Cold War.
